Transaction Records: Services & Referrals

In HMIS, a service record represents direct assistance while a referral represent a service connection often at another provider. When it comes to services, there are hundreds of codes to choose from so be sure to consult with your supervisor to determine which codes to use.

A transaction must be tied to an enrollment. If you try to record the transaction outside the enrollment dates, the system will not allow it. If this happens, you might need to add an enrollment or fix an enrollment if one closed unexpectedly.

As with anything in HMIS, if you happen to create a record by mistake, you can easily delete it. Deleted records can always be retrieved from the recycling bin in the upper right corner of the screen.
